Thanks for the support everyone! I got the barrel and lock blued today, I will add pics tomorrow. Everything is just waiting on the coats of tried and true to dry so I can get it assembled. I am already thinking of the next one.

Nothing wrong with anything I see. I love the carving work you did. My colonial is out for delivery today. I think I will do some of the style you did. I wasn't but reading your post has inspired me to.

Yup I got the call Wednesday and gun arrived Friday morning.
Been fiddling with ever since.
Added the brass end plate to the patch box last evening.
Got the barrel all set pined.
And thimbles all set. Ramrod built.
Then disassembled everything.
Got the barrel antiqued to my liking.
One coat of French's mustard. Set overnight probably 8 hours.
Scrubed off with green scotch bright and water.
Then oiled with 1500 grit .
Then wiped off excess oil. And using rubber gloves. Smeared Birchwood case cold blue one land at a time and rubed it back with 1500 and oil again
Really pleased how it turned out.
All I did neutralize the mustard with baking soda water before I oiled an started the cold blue process.

Tore it down to bar bones.sand papered the frame to attempt to get below the machine grooves. The best I could.
And too small files to the all the outside cast parts
Cleaned them with thinner.
Then coated them with mustard.
4 hours later,washed them in the sink fairly hot water and a tooth brush.
Then a shot of baking soda in a runny paste brushed all the parts and rinsed,with hot water..
Then gave everything a coat of Balistol rubbed all up good stayed clear of the frizzen face with the oil.
Then hit what board looking places with some insta blue paste right over the oil .. and card back anyplace you think it's too thick.
Turned out nice to my liking

This is mustard aged. And carded back with foam back 1500 grit
And balistol,then cold blue in areas that I felt needed it
