Rolling papers for combustible cartridges?

I use hair curling papers and nitrated coffee filters with good success. Here is a picture

using nitrated coffee filters. Paper cartridges of old were held together using Waterglass which you can buy on the internet. I tried it - it is a bit fussy as it is applied with a small artist brush. I prefer the glue stick method.

That is what I use. Cigarette papers work fantastic and are dirt cheap to buy. They last forever. Burn completely upon ignition.

Yes but not ZigZag
I use Bee Organic Hemp papers for RB's -- strong, thin, and no need to nitrate (1 1/4 inch size)
I use RAW Organic Hemp for conicals with Pyrodex 30 Gr pellets -- Need 1 1/2 size. As the BEE, it is strong, thin, and no need to nitrate.
For both you can add a wad if you want... or not. Adding a wad supposed to improve groups and decrease fouling but haven't shot enough of them to know for sure in my 1858 yet
When rolled, both get dipped in melted SPG Lube or the lube from Guns of the West. If lubed wad added I do not grease over the projectile.
Use caps that are tight to prevent chain fire -- so I am told

Holding a paper cartridge by the balls lololol with twisted end (with a dab of glue) so it holds better at range before I cut it off for loading. That's my bottle of potassium nitrate in solution and I am dipping them (very quick in and out ) briefly then dry them. It is just a labour of love for them old .44's.. The gun is an original Rem 1858 the finished loads are at back. Conical has around 28-29 grains. I lube them as well. Enjoy the shoot smells like victory to me.

One of my pistols is the 1862 police .36. The cigarette papers work great without nitrating them. super handy.

Here is my method for rolling tubes. in order from top left.
Papers, cut the pack in half,put on a dowel (or a marker pen right size) lick glue strip and glue ,remove and there is your tube . The last one has a .454 ball in it. I do glue mine in for strength and this is just to show. Once you get a rythmn doing it the time just goes by and next thing ya know you blastin away.

I use the Duco cement to make the caps. I take tube and add it to 7-8 oz of acetone. This is what seals the priming compound to the cap.

Tarponstalker, make your former first, then make your template to fit it. Here's a sketch of a pretty good former for 44s. I whittled mine out of a maple branch, coated it liberally with paraffin, heated. Ditto...I use their Organic hemp 1 1/2 inch size. No need to nitrate

Been rolling cartridges for my 1860 Armies with Bugler and Drum rolling papers for years now and never have had any problems.

Be sure to keep the paper cartridges separate from other items rolled from Zig Zag papers.

Nitrated adds a flash that helps scare the enemy on the other side and impresses the yokels. Too much time on my hands I am an old man must have been alive in civil war I feel like that some days lololol.

This how I do it. Works great. Rip the paper off the ball after seating it in cylinder.
