Just looking at the Pedersoli website, the first two rifles seen in the link are the Pedersoli Missouri Hawkens. One is in Walnut and the other is stocked in maple. These come in 45 and 50 caliber version with a 1 in 48" twist. What caliber is this treasure you are hoping to plunder?

Better snatch it up, @rusty.

The Rocky Mountain version comes in 54 caliber with a 1 in 65 twist.

This Missouri Hawken has fiberoptic sights on it,, the seller said that they are the original sights that came with the rifle, does that sound right to you guys?

I am concerned that this rifle may not be a Pedersoli. CVA used to make a "Missouri Rifle," which was a simple, no-frills hunting rifle, sort of like CVA's version of a T/C Renegade, but with a rubber recoil pad. I believe these had a 1:48" twist, and had the word MISSOURI on the barrel. As for the "Hawken" designation, there are a lot of people out there who call any and every half-stocked side-lock muzzleloader a Hawken. Seriously. I recently saw a Pedersoli Tryon rifle advertised as a "Pedersoli Tryon Hawken."

Anyway, given the price tag, fiber optic sights, and 1:48" twist, I think there may be a possibility that the subject rifle is a CVA Missouri rifle. We will see when it arrives, I guess. I believe one of these sold through the classifieds here a few months ago*, and they have been discussed in the past. If it is a CVA Missouri rifle, $300 would not be excessive for one in good shape. If it really is a Pedersoli Missouri Hawken, the OP will have gotten an unbelievable deal, but miracles do happen.

We will hope for the best!

Notchy Bob

*Addendum/Edit: Big Sky Rambler sold a CVA Missouri rifle here last August. Search for "CVA Missouri rifle" and you should find his listing, with some excellent photos.

Re Pedersoli Hawken's .The .54 Mountain Hawken has a 1 in 65" twist , the .45 Missouri Hawken has a 1 in 47" twist and the .50 a 1 in 24" twist and , my mates one ,is a slug not a ball shooting rifle . None have fiber optic sights .

Nope. They have the same sights as on the Rock Mountain.

I looked at that rifle a few times. It has replacement sights. The 1:24 twist rate turned me off as it must have a lot of potential buyers as it went unsold for a month. It was listed at $450.00 first with no takers, then lowered to $400.00 shipped. OP, you got it for a really good price. As long as you want 1:24 twist.

Oh, it is a Pedersoli, not a CVA.
