Two 44’s on a rainy day. A Pietta 1851 Navy and 1860 Army.

Load for all shots was CCI #10 caps, 25 grains of Pyrodex P, lubed felt wad and .454 lead round balls (mix of Hornady and hand cast). All shooting was done at 10 yards, standing, off hand.

I can shoot this pistol better than my modern plastic guns. The gun fits my hand nicely and has a good trigger.

Who says you gotta have a smooth bore to shoot turkeys? The missed shots were with the 1851 Navy. It was my first time shooting it and I’m not used to the grip. Of course, being retired Army, I may be a little biased.🤣

I love .44 Navies, I have them with brass and steel frames.

It's the revolver Colt should have made

I know it's blasphemy but I like the look of a 51 Navy better than a 60 Army.

Don`t worrry about it many feel the same way and also think the volkswagon beetle is a fine looking car.
Although sometimes form folows function it certainly not always beautiful or pleasing to the eye. even Sam Colt reputably prefered the 18 60s pistols more visually appealing.

When you love the look of a Full Flute cylinder but also like the Navy barrel better.....I just make my own versions of what looks better to me . It's a sort of repro of the .44 Navy prototype but I may not go with a round barrel

Nothing better for shooting from horseback than an 1860.
It’s been said that the elongated grip was made with that in mind. Shoots darn well just standing on the ground, too.

(But, hell fire, I love them all.)

Wow, that's a kool gun, Stan! What cylinder did you use?
A guy who sells parts on Ebay and GunBroker, I assume he buys cap and ballers and parts them out. Has some hard to find Pietta cylinders and he had 2 of these Full Flute .44 cylinders. I now have 2 Pietta .44 Navy steel frames so I'm making a pair of them.

I had 2 full flute Uberti 1860s on backorder for over a year, now Midway has them in stock and I don't even want one now 😃
