After I shot a deer with two of them, I sold them. I sold the third one later. Didn't make much(if any) on them, but I had fun and didn't lose money.
The trick is to put a sealed bid in with your best price and let it ride. Don't chase the item. Win or lose the sun will still come up the next morning.

When I got out of high school had a job as a welder , one of the other welders was also an auctioneer.
I went to work for him part-time for 10 years , learned and seen a lot!!!
Wish I had some of the things that went through my hands all those years ago!!

STILL LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON THE BUILDER OF THIS RIFLE.

UPS delivered my Rock Island winner this evening. A .54 cal. rifle by Michael McHugh. All I have right now is a couple of quick snaps.

I had that one in hand while I was there. It was the best of the contemporary guns in the place for this auction. . If you ever need anybody to put an eyeball on something you're interested in give me a call.
I hooked three old lever guns out of there this time. Last October it was four. Wife is starting to give me the stink eye.

You scored if the innards on the rifles are as good as the outsides appear.
Some of my Firearm shooter / collector friends have bought guns on auctions where photos looked good but would require lots of $ to make them worthy & safe as shooters.
If you can't make a face to face purchase & especially with original ML firearms your planning to shoot,, it's best to try & buy from someone with experience about the guns true condition & a realistic price. There are several very knowledgeable folks on this forum.

Mine just shakes her head and gives the side eye. But she knows that I have my own rat hole account, and I usually sell one after buying one. I'm trying to keep my headcount steady but be able to have a new one once in a while.

Received the rifles yesterday 3/8/23 in a wooden crate ,
just got done unpacking and unwrapping them. They all look great!!
They had the name on the .45 cal. Flinter wrong though --
D.E. DUNLEAVY on the top flat in front of the rear sight.
Anyone have any information on D.E. DUNLEAVY??
So far I have not found any other markings on the barrel.
I have not removed it yet to look on the underside of the barrel or lock.
