Although February 14th is Valentine's Day, it is also National Ferris Wheel Day, so I decided to have a ferris wheel type target. Shoot offhand from 25 yards with rifle or 15 yards with handgun.

10 shots for score - center of each ferris wheel car is 10 pts, rest of the black circle is 7 pts. One shot per circle except the center hub - two shots into the center hub.

Shots inside the ferris wheel but not into any circle/bull score 5 pts and anything outside the ferris wheel is 0

Shoot as many times as you wish but please only post one target with pictures of target (and gear, if possible - we love to see everyone's equipment and load data!) Post jpg or pdf formats.

Prize is same as always - bragging rights on the forum!

I will be posting January results this week.

Have fun and stay safe!

Gary

Gary,

Will multiple hits in the same ferris wheel car outside of the center bull be scored as 10pts each or 10 for the 1st and 5 for the second?

this looks like its going to be a challenge but at least the 10pt areas take up a good bit of the target!

Chris

Hi Chris,

No, it's one shot per circle around the outside of the wheel and 2 shots into the center wheel. Only one shot per outside circle will count for score. 10 pts for center hit in the 10 ring and 5 pts anywhere else in the black are of the car.

Should be interesting to shoot!

Interesting! no kiddin' , I think this target may get the best of me but i'll give it my best shot(s)

Chris

I figure the way I shoot I will just aim for the middle and I am likely to hit the outer circles!

I was contemplating a roulette approach to shooting at the cars..... wobble a circle around the perimeter and try and squeeze off shots at the right time. :D

Chris

Probably a stupid question, but: Do we have to use a patched round ball or are conicals/unmentionables OK? It says "ball" in the data field below the target.

I'm thinking that those little circles are about the size of a squirrel brain, so a .32 or .36 might be a good match for this one.

I have no objection to using conicals if that is what you normally shoot.

Gary, has anyone ever mentioned that you may be a sadist? i get dizzy just looking at that target! maybe i will score well, shooting as i tip over!!🤣
I figure that as I usually aim for the center and hit somewhere around the sides, this would be an easy target if you just aim for the center - you'll probably hit all the outer circle bulls!:ghostly:

not a bad target but you neglected to post distance?

I just love the title of this thread. I do know what a Postal Match is and the concept is terrific.

But the smile I get is priceless when I see "postal match" and the idea of post office people with guns in a match makes me almost laugh out loud.

Whoever came up with that combination of words in the title must have had a strong gift of humor.

Back in the days before the Internet we actually mailed them in - USPS would probably censor the targets now!

Gary if I choose to shoot my 1861 Springfield musket this month I can use minie balls?

Use of conicals, especially in the winter months would make loading easier.
