My question is what do you get for an $800.00 campsite?
Broke?
I remember back in the 80's it used to cost $80 to camp in the primitive section for 10 days. I suppose that was 40 years ago now...
I don't think I could afford to go and stay for the shoot if the camping fee alone is $800.

I think the $800 cost he is speaking of is for 2 weeks at the new campground that has full hookups at around $60 per night. If I remember correctly, the cost of the primitive camp is $15 per night.

Sorry folks that I haven't chimed back in as I've been out of touch.
First the fees for the luxurious Frontier Heritage are $40 per night. They have what they call a "first dibs" rule that will allow you to keep the same site from shoot to shoot as long as you pay up front for the entire 9 days each for both the spring and fall events. We usually come up a day early so we pay a total of $800 for 20 nights. This reservation fee is non-refundable. As a matter of fact, last September just prior to the shoot my wife broke her leg and we couldn't attend.....$400 down the tube.
It seems to me that all the burden is place entirely upon member and very little on the organization. I've been camping for many years at various campgrounds in numerous states and have never seen such an agreement. On top of that this was just now pitched in our laps with no prior warning that I can recall. Full reservations need to be in by the end of this month, so we don't have much time.
I'm going to try to attach pics of the six-page agreement. Pay attention to the Hazardous Substances clause on page 4. Is not black powder a hazardous substance....accordingly I can't have it on the campsite. On the same page I'm have to keep in force fire/casualty insurance as well as general liability insurance with no less than $300,000.
One other thing that bugs me in the campsite rules and regulations I'm required to unhook my camper from the sites electrical source when away from the camper.
I'd could go on but I'll just let this dog rest. Sorry

The costs were published in the December Muzzle Blasts. They gave over 60 days notice. They gave the option of paying monthly to help with the costs.

Cost included shooter registration for both shoots.

@Robin Henderson they have significantly revised the agreement. You may want to review the new agreement (as posted by Splitear just above your post w/pics). It seems to address most of your concerns.

They posted the costs in December, but not the revised agreement. The agreement is what has so many people stirred up. They were aware of the costs, but not that the revised agreement would forbid having powder on the campsite, or the requirements for unobtainable insurance, or the complete and total waiver of rights in event of negligence by the NMLRA.

(I'm just sitting here laughing that anyone would be surprised that the NMLRA would do this! Maybe the surprise is that they'd do this to people who think of themselves as "Friendship Regulars"?)

Would you rather see more people getting out of shooting to where it begins to dry up?
Seems to me that N.M.L.R.A. is pricing itself out of the normal man's expenditures, I once belonged but have dopped my membership in part due to issues such as this. There are other local and not so local muzzleloading clubs that I am sure would appreciate your, mine and others business. This is the type of issues that gets people out of shooting.

My question is what do you get for an $800.00 campsite?
Same here. Is that for just pitching a tent or a full service RV site? For $800 bucks, you can stay at Camp Perry, OH, at the National Matches for better than 15 days for $800, or better yet almost a month for tent camping. Privative living shouldn't be more expensive.

well, i see that document generation fees are what still drive the lawyer's vehicle today as they did when i practiced! wordy bugger.
and none of the verbiage surprises me. i made it through page 5 before my eyeballs rolled back in their sockets!
Go to Disney Land and read the tiny print on the back of your tickets. could be written by the same shyst..... er Lawyer.

I would have no issue with the liability waiver. As said, they are required for almost any activity where you pay to play. Last one i recall was one of those ax throwing places.
Correct. We sign one at nearly everything OHV park we ride at and at the campgrounds. I think a lot of shooting ranges have them also.

Yes Gunny I remember when I was going to the nationals for two weeks back in the eighties I was paying about ten bucks a night for a place in a hutment. Affordable and a lot of fun with the other hutment members. Suppers in Port Clinton and the neat restaraunt up by the nuclear plant. Good memories.
