I was given a CVA .54 Hawken with brass furniture, obviously a kit gun. Everything is in good shape and it shoots well but the trapdoor in the patchbox is missing. This is a shooter and will be used for hunting and I would like to do something about the missing cover. I am open to suggestions where I could find a replacement or perhaps how to make one. Thanks in advance!

Hi Poker! I had an unexpected trip to the hospital but am OK now. Sorry I took so long! Here's a picture.

I'd like just a replacement brass cover but would settle for a white one if necessary. Thanks

I am going to recommend making a new one if that is in your skill set. Here are some photos of mine that was made from German silver. If you Get some 1/16" Brass sheet it could be fashioned into a cover. The hinge pin could be a finishing nail cut to fit.
