Investarms

How do these compare to T/C guns in terms of quality? I have been reading about them and it seems they were sold under a few different names. Cabelas, Charles daily? Maybe more? Do they all have chrome bores? Are they all 1-48 twist?

I wouldn’t say Investarms is equal to TC but for the money they are very good factory rifles. Most are 1-48, but their Gemmer Hawken is 1-60. Again, for the money, they’re fine.

I have an Investarms .58. I'd say it is every bit as good as a T/C.

They produced the GPR for Lyman. They’re held in pretty high regards by lots of folks including me.

Yeah, my Lyman Trade Rifle is pretty good where fit and finish are concerned. Also, loved my GPR in .50

As long as they don't have the chrome bore(which is prone to chipping/flaking making the bore rough) they are pretty much the equal to Thompson Center though maybe not quite as nice cosmetically. Just my humble opinion.

Not all have the chrome bore, I have three, none of mine do. All three are excellent shooters.

I have not found confirmation of this that I can recall, but from every angle that I have seen an Invest vs a TC, the invest looks to be a direct 99.99% copy of a TC Renegade (most models), right down to the scrolling on the lock plates. Does anyone actually know the back story there?

I must have got a lemon. The spec sheet called out european wallnut I got beechwood. The lock was 1/8" too far forward. The wedge was missing and the replacement fell out.
If you buy one check it over real good.

They appear to be clones of one another with just enough differences to avoid patent or copyright issues.

The European walnut is sometimes so pale it looks like beech or maple wood.

I bought mine in 1975. Still a tack driver. Great rifles, on par with T/C.

I would like to see them do a smoothbore or two. How does invest arms compare to Pedersoli?

That’s an example of why I don’t equate them with the good old USA made TCs. Not that TCs don’t have their faults too. I own both and like both.

Lyman sold some in 62 cal smooth bore. I've got one w/58 rifled and 62 smooth.

I’ve read lots of accounts/complaints about T/C’s quality. I think it’s like everything else. You put enough people to talking and someone had had a bad experience with just about anything. Both are solid guns and will get you shooting at a somewhat reasonable price.

I have the Cabelas version in .54 cal, not chromed lined. Been a good gun, no issues. Bought it used about 5 years ago.

I have several models of Investarms and a number of T/C's. I find Investarms equal in my opinion.

Have two Investarms CHROME lined, a .54 and a .58 (and an extra .58 barrel, also chrome). Never heard before today that they chip or flake? Mine are Cabelas and I LOVE them. Every bit as well made as my only TC, a .45 Hawkin. Chrome makes clean up a breeze (5 patches including drying). Acuuracy is as good or better. Only difference I like TC better on is the inscription on the barrels, Investarms appear more gaudy. Last time to the range with the .58 I got under 1" group at 65 yd. Other than USA made I woould say Investarms would be 51% to TC at 49%. Good ol USA made reverses that.

Woodworking is one of my hobbies. Beechwood blotches bad walnut doesn't. I put three coats of sanding sealer on the stock it still botched like pine. I wonder if the distributor did a cut and paste of the specs.
