How did Civil War soldiers carry percussion caps? I have soon pictures of cartridge boxes, but I have never noticed any method for carrying musket caps, any ideas. I can’t imagine they were carried loose in a pocket?

I'm pretty sure that caps for revolvers came in the same package as revolver cartridges. It was a little wooden box with six paper cartridges and six caps. You can see repros online for sale, but they are pricey. AS far as muskets go, I believe on official uniforms, caps were kept in a little black belt pouch. There are plenty of CW enthusiasts here that will come along and give more accurate and specific info.
Good Luck!

I don’t know how accurate this is but it’s from something called army heritage .org.

As nicely stated above, cap boxes were used. Reproductions are easily found by GOOGLIE search. My originals are fleece lined to hold the caps from moving around and also have a nipple pick . One still has original winged musket caps in it
