One of my dearest buddies sent me a Brand Spanking New Pietta 1851 Colt Navy for Christmas . Of course it is a beautiful gun but more importantly we have helped each other through thick and thin for the last 25 years . There is no finer man and I am blessed to have him in my life .

That is good to hear. I've got an 1851 London Navy by Pietta, myself. It is a tack driver with 15 grains of 2f behind a fiber wonder wad and a .375 round ball. I have a Lee mold and have cast some conicals for it, but have not tried them out, yet. Can't wait to be able to retire. This work thing really cuts into my range time.

15grs of 2f? Ive always wondered about using 2f in my .36. How does it compare to using 3f?

Actually, I have been using 2f only because I have no 3f at the moment. It turns out that it works so well, I have no plans to get any 3f. I shoot my large bore Rev war and Civil war muskets/rifle so much, I always keep a large supply of 2f on hand. I haven't chronographed any loads or anything scientific like that, but it shoots very accurately and penetrates heavy wooden boards at normal pistol ranges of 15 to 20 yards.

Nice revolver! And an even better friend. Ya know they say Friend are somewhat better than family, because we can choose our friends :D. Have you found anything out of spec on it. I see there is talk not only here but elsewhere of New 2022 Pietta's having some issues. My new one seems to be ok. I plan to add a Navy and full size Army to the stable.

Aren’t they pretty! Personal opinion, no finer gun ever made with better fit and point-ability.

I have a Pietta 1851 Confederate Navy.44. Which is a half brass frame. Yours appears to be a forged steel frame and is a very nice Union Replica, a much stronger frame. And would likely allow you to buy cylinder conversions where you could fire commonly produced 44 or 45 caliber rounds. These guns were originally produced to fire 36 caliber balls. But with small modifications companies that make reproductions have made them to a standard of 44 caliber. The ball sizes you will use to fit these would be 0.454 as they must be oversized to seal the cylinder as they are rammed home. Mine likes number 10 percussion caps and 20 grains of powder.

In esponse to your question about the 2022 Piettas being a little finicky I have an answer if it helps. I had to take the lower end of mine apart because the bolt spring side of the bolt and trigger spring was too stiff and keeping the bolt up and interfering with the action of the cylinder during half-cock. I checked with some other people and they said I needed a new bolt spring but I fixed the problem by loosening the trigger/bolt Spring screw about an eighth to quarter of a turn. I believe there are inconsistencies in the manufacture of the bolt and trigger spring assembly. At least my adjustment made my bolt stop scratching and or hanging up the cylinder.
