Oh for the days when you could just pick some up at the hardware store along with Dynamite and anything else you might need around the farm!

Thank, Dale. Good to know. I've spoken with out-of-state suppliers who have discouraged ordering from them because of the hazmat fee. Ten pounds is a lot of course, but, that's a good excuse to shoot more. California is crazy with restrictions on everything; might have to have powder shipped to an FFL. Muzzleloading clubs here are scarce, too. Might have to start one just to get powder.

Now, I never picked up any dynamite at the hardware store back in the day but I do remember seeing nice center-fire revolvers for sale in hardware stores. In California! No waiting period, no background checks.

Funny story about one of my friends. He had a large stump that he wanted out. He was going to go to the hardware store to pick up some dynamite. I suggested he had black powder so no need to get dynamite. He took a pinch bar and drove it into the ground at an angle to get a hole under the stump. Packed with about a pound of black powder, I suggested that about a half a pound would do but he insisted so I gave him some cannon fuse to light it off.
Well he was worried about gravel hitting the house, so he put a large contractors wheelbarrow over the stump and hole. I told him I didn't think that was a good idea but he insisted. Well he lit the fuse and we hid behind the garage and boom the stump was obliterated, leaving a good sized hole to fill.
Got to looking around and the wheelbarrow was no where in sight. I finally spotted it sticking out of his roof by one handle. Good old Charlie and I didn't even say "told ya so".:ghostly:

As we use to say with demolitions, "when in doubt double it out" but wear your M1 Helmet and scrunch down in the firing pit before ignition.
