I can't help you with an Arizona location, but have you considered going in with some others and getting a case on line delivered. I go in with my boys and nephew and his boys and we get a case which spreads the shipping and hazmat fee out.

It is an excellent suggestion. The only problem here is I don't know any other BP shooters. Kinda all alone here.

If Yankees weren't so 'tight' they could have it shipped to their front door from Powder Inc. Order enough (a case) to offset the Hazmat fee! If ya don't shoot a case a year....might wanna sell your rifle!
Some of us "Yankees" have local vendors so don't need to order that much,,, and why would one soend money with some nameless businesshowver far away when one can support a local business. And when one doesn't have any felony records we have other guns to play with too,,, so don't need to shoot nothing but muzzleloaders and go through all that black powder.

Screen names are funny things,,, no sunshine here...

I love reviewing lead box applications..... especially repeat and final submissions....

I would've preferred to buy local too, but it wasn't to be. Earlier this year I ordered ten pounds of Schutzen 3F and last week I ordered five pounds of Swiss 3F and a bottle of Null B. The latter is supposed to be delivered today. Yes, the hasmat fee sucks, but it just another part of the cost of the hobby.

I Get over 450 shots per pound of powder as I shoot small bores exclusively for the time being. I have enough powder for 23,000 shots on hand but when I go through 5 LBS or more I restock and rotate my supply always shooting the oldest first.

4 or 5lbs at grafs comes to about $25/lb with shipping and hazmat, between their brand and Schutzen and even one or two grades of Swiss they had all the Fs available last week. Natchezss just had a "no hazmat for over $99" *and* they had #10 caps in stock yesterday (no hazmat deal is over).

I would like a local supplier so I don't have to order a minimum quantity. I figure the hazmat charge would cover the fuel to get there.
Problem is local stores won’t stock BP because they don’t have the correct storage facilities to meet federal requirements! Why people buy Pyro junk!!

How many shots do you figure to get from a pound of black? Divide your total cost by that number and, maybe, it won't seem too bad.
However, did not work so well for my cannon powder.
As I understand it, there are 7000 grains to a pound. So, as far as my 1851 navy is concerned (or my .32 Crockett) it works out to a hair over 300 shots. 100 shots in a typical load in my long guns. Comparing that to cartridges, doesn't come close. It's another good reason to sell off the last of the centerfires I have and just go BP.
Thanks, Solanco for the food for thought.
