Is the Renegade any wider on the buttplate than the butt end of a Hawken?

I know the cresent brass/flat plastic difference. Wondering about the width of the butt.

Not enough difference to worry a bout. Renegade butt is very slightly thicker.

You may not get many answers. Everyone knows not to answer the question, "Does this make my butt look big?" 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Come on, Man. No need to read something into this that's not there.

Some people like big butts. Some people like small butts.

The butt that's rubbing on someone's shoulder is a very personal thing.

While there mostly likely is not a correct answer, I can firmly state that an incorrect answer is, "No. Your butt makes those pants look small."

Im not aware of any plastic ones, but the flat English/shotgun type butt on the Renegade is vastly more comfortable to me and easier to use.

I have to say though that as far as crescents go, the TC Hawken isnt as bad as most.

Is it a rubber or blued steel?

My Renegade Hunter, single trigger model, has a butt width of 1.5" and trigger pull of 13 1/8". My Hawken has a butt width of 1.4" and trigger pull to set trigger of 13 1/8" and to set trigger of 14".

I hated mine until I made the switch.

Blued steel, at least all the ones Ive seen have been.

In the past I was somewhat stuck in the "Its not original looking!!!" mindset in regards to the Renegade. Some years later, I came to dislike crescent butts in general, and eventually realized it does in fact look original/old(ish), but English style. They were far ahead of the US in stock design, and most US stocks evolved over time to a basically English or shotgun style butt on more modern guns. So, depending on how you look at it, you can have a fast handling comfortable stock and know its still basically older period style, just for a different style type than most seek when they think muzzle loaders.

With the same projectile and charge the Renegade's felt recoil is considerably less than the T/C Hawkin. I have both. Won't feel it when hunting, though.

As for American vs English butt styles, my take is if someone hostile to your presence is after your life in a new world wilderness setting the viciousness of those sharp brass edges of the Cresent buttstock smacking into said assailant's face could take the fight right out of them.
Not sure if that was a factor in the design but I have pondered this on occasion.

While all the butt plates on T/C Hawkens I have owned or handled had a mild crescent shaped brass buttplate, I own some T/C Renegades with relatively flat steel butter plates and also own some with what could best be described as Pachmayr style recoil pads. All are close to the same width. What is your concern?

I was just wondering if same width as on the Hawken. I have a Hawken and was simply wondering if the butt was any wider.
