Just finished up "Daniel Boone, Trailblazer" on Tubi. Great views of the long rifle!

Waitaholdit! The armorer guy demonstrates loading a percussion longrifle, just 'stuff the slug down the barrel' (should have a patch!).
And then there's the "1880s" flintlock blunderbus - 100 yrs wrong date.

HAWKEYE with Lee Horsley was really one of my favorites.

I'm a 70 year old and grew up in outback Australia, my family were Highland Scots who migrated to Australia in 1857.

Our people never treated the indigenous natives the way that "Quigley Down Under" portrayed. In fact the Outback folk relied on good relations with them.

sharps 50-140

I just watched "The Patriot" for the first time yesterday because of the recommendations here. I'm not really a TV or movie guy, so I had missed that one.

It was a little over the top, but I definitely enjoyed the movie. It really puts what a modern military rifle is capable of in perspective too, war was SO different then.

I loved this and while it wasn’t completely accurate, it was entertaining as a kid and I still watch it from time to time.

I never could watch the Revenaunt (sp). Just to fake for me...The Patriot and last of the Mohicans was pretty good...J.J. got me started as well....

Not much focus on muzzle loading, but I very much enjoy the use of his 1851 Army in Dances with Wolves, there is a short battle scene at the beginning that features a wide array of Union and Confederate muzzleloaders.

Most of the firearms from the movie are not muzzleloaders though so do with that as you want.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly also features a number of muzzleloaders. However, they all are cartridge guns when they fire. But in holsters they are percussion guns.. continuity was forgotten for this movie...

Little known but very good western from 1991, is “Into the Badlands” with Bruce Dern. His character does a cylinder swap with a Colt Walker (holding the wedge between his teeth to keep his hands free) during a gun battle.
Also, don’t forget Will Munny (Unforgiven) begins the film with a Model 1858 Starr revolver, set in 1881.
And although not a muzzleloader, here’s a size comparison of the aforementioned .50-140 with:
l-r .22 short, .22 lr., .56-50, .45 Colt, .45-70, .43 Spanish, .450-577, .50-140 (3 1/4”).

I have a C. Sharps 45-100 and it is a very barrel heavy rifle. I hunted elk with it years back and it like to wore me out. Still have it and shoot it every once in a while but I don't carry it around.

Black Robe! Great Canadien movie from the early 90's based on a book by Brian Moore. I used to live in the Northeast and the movie was very evocative of long desolate winters. The movie offers an interesting perspective on first impressions, and the misunderstanding the Europeans and natives had of each other's culture.

I'm not into politics or assessing any actors portrayal, if its reasonably believable and of the ML era then I'll watch it, God knows we don't get nearly enough of the period in movies nowadays.
