Somewhere I've misplaced one of the wedges for my Lyman Great Plains Rifle. Anyone know a source for the factory replacement wedge? Thanks in advance.
Thank you. Trying to do a p.m.I believe I have an extra here. Send me the wedge dimensions and pm your mailing address. I will get it in the mail to you
Thanks, Poker.I found two so will get one in tomorrows mail for you
Yup. My Ithaca Hawken has these, as do three original shotguns. Good suggestion. Thanks. You may want to consider cutting slots in your wedges and using a small pin to help keep them from getting lost.
The ‘capture’ pin is placed under or behind the slotted inlay, and goes through the slot in the wedge key. You can just make out the pin in the wedge slot in this photograph.
Seems most of mine are fit to slot they come from. Capturing them helps.Wedges are one of things where many appear identical, but they're not. Which, I think, is how some of us end up with parts that won't work but are too good to toss. Some marriages are like that.
more than one wedge plate has been driven off by mixing them up. not by me of course!Seems most of mine are fit to slot they come from. Capturing them helps.
Easy to make with a file or a milling machine if you have access to one. They are very easy to make. I've lost and replaced by making several times.
It's kinda satisfying to "beat the system". You too can take on "Big Wedge".
Actually easy to make from steel too. Cut wedge to approx. size and leave 1/4" long. Heat and clamp in good vise and hammer peen head to shape. Can leave marks which look good on rough finish guns.
