Morning folks,
The gunsmith I sent my rifle to decided to forgo on repairing a rifle of mine due to lack of skillset/tools to fix.

In his own words- "I took a look and the advance pawl is very worn as are the teeth on the axle."

Any recommendations for where to send the rifle for work? I have no deadline, and just would like it fixed.

You might discuss with Turnbull Restorations.
 
Are you talking about the Uberti Remington revolving carbine? I'm assuming here but I think the smith was talking about the hand and the cylinder having excessive wear. These parts are identical to their 1858 Remington revolver and are available as replacements. Anyone familiar with revolvers, past or present, should be capable of making the repairs. If you have an original mid 1800s piece things may be different.

Close- the Palmetto Arms Colt Revolving Rifle from the mid-2000s. Might be just as much a pain in the butt as fixing the parts to reuse on an original.

Try Joe Winters of Berlin, NJ. He has shop on Rt. 30 in Berlin, grew up with gunsmith dad and is familiar with all kinds of older guns. Google him, I think you can message him at his site. Thing about shipping valuable older stuff would make me nervous! (Winters' Gun Specialties). Does restorations, stock maker, new & old, a true old-school 'smith.
