Hi,

Does anyone know where I can source a new spring for my James Dixon powder flask, preferably somewhere in the UK, but if they ship internationally then anywhere.

It looks to be about 1 1/2" diameter. 16686093118123356507565999378097.jpg

I have made them out of the steel banding that is used on shipping pallets. If you are careful it can be cold formed, Since the steel straps are usually free it doesn't mater if you need several tries to get it right. The small loop can be formed around a nail.

This shop is in the UK, doesn't look cheap, but looks like he either has or can make what you need.

Yep, Dysons only sell things that are hand carved from billet unobtanium using unicorn horn tools, well, that's certainly how it is priced😜. If all else fails then I may have to remortgage and get one from them.

I guess if you figure in shop labor for time invested in hand making one or modifying a stock spring to fit, @ $40 to $80 per hour. Probably not a bad price if they hand fit and install the spring.

Thats a tough one it being a best rifle flask by the look of it . I might have one , ile look. if need dims .Looks like a hook type sliding in fit.. I used to go into Dixons at Cornish place then the Heeley shop but its all gone now But Cornish Place still stands many of the old wokshops now have Turners & my old brass founders where there by the river Don . They allways closed the windows & wore bandit looking masks when pouring my Yellow brass mounts . Gave them'the ague' but they had done it years , didnt kill them just the Malairial shakes .I once suggested they applied for a youth on the job makeing sponsored scheme The inspector came , he says" Where is your canteen ?" .They sat round the fire ." Where are your wash rooms ?" They dropped a lump of hot iron in to a bucket . "Extraction fans ??? ", They opened the Georgian windows . unless they where going to do a pour ( prevents a squall wetting the flasks) . The OSH bod' had kittens' so no youth sceme worker for them !.,

Thanks for the offer, however, I managed to find a YouTube video and ended up making my own spring. It's not perfect, but it does work.

I just ordered the same style spring from track of the wolf, they have two sizes, one and one and a half inches, $3.99
