Escanaba? Let's see, that would have been K.I. Sawyer? Or Kincheloe? Been a long time since I was up there.
You've probably been up there more often then I have. My mom was from Gladstone, my dad from Wisconsin. He was AF and stationed in Greenland at the time.

A Mickey from Eddie Brown. I foolishly ran a Walmart bronze brush down my .40 cal Flinter. It broke off 4” above the vent hole. I called Eddie and he concurred that a hefty load of 4F in the hole followed by ramming the brush on top of the powder would burn the bristles and force the brush out. It worked like “Magic”🎉

Ace Hardware sells a metal cleaning scotch type pad. (Maroon color) Cut a small square, use next size smaller jag, use some sort of oil and scrub, scrub scrub. I also once cleaned a non cleaned BP barrel with 0000 steel wool with oil on a bronze brush on a thin cleaning rod spun by an electric drill. Barrel cleaned up, had pitting, but still shot well. Good luck and welcome back. I’ve heard talk of Rice barrel making drop in barrels, but have never checked it out.

KI Sawyer is in Gwinn -- about 17 miles south of Marquette .... Escanaba about 60 miles south of MQT. Kincheloe about 15 miles south of the Soo on east side of UP. Sawyer was the B52 nuclear bomber base and Kincheloe was where the fighters for B52 protection were staged.

Before spending big bucks give some of the barrel treatments suggested here .If none gets you shooting satisfacorily you can always go to plan B. I haven't read thru all previous posts but if not mentioned you might give Maxis a try. No longer available from T/C but are available in similar molds elsewhere. A 430 gr maxi provides a serious whompin'.

Doubt it! Went to the Soo in the 90's. Before that was the 60's to explore the UP. In 73 I left Michigan for 43 years except for vacations. And since home is almost as far from the UP as one can get and still be in Michigan......

Yeah, I intend to try everything possible and maybe even some ideas of my own. Just haven't this week due to company from out of state. Now they're gone and today I intend to get things going. I actually have a number of maxis 400 gr and up. I also have the mold from T/C for the 430 gr. Somewhere.......

OK, ya made me look at a map to refresh the knoggin. :) I've not been up there in a long, long time. Wife's family has a cabin on the tip of the Keweenaw. Hope to make it there someday.

I bought the T/C mold for .54 430gr maxis. The genuine T/C maxis shoot a tad better in my rifles than the ones purchased from other suppliers but they all shoot good.
