Hi guys, hopefully somebody can help me identify this .44 percussion cylinder. It looks extremely close to a Ruger Old Army, but there are slight differences. The bolt cutouts are shaped different, the rectangular cutouts on the back are rounded, and not square, no ruger roll marking, the cylinder pin stud is straight, and doesnt have a lip on it, oal is just a hair too long, and the nipple threads are much smaller diameter. Any help would be appreciated.

The hammer notches on the back suggest 1858 Remington. Keep in mind Piettas and Uberti’s don’t typically interchange. And older Euroarms and others can be different too.

Looks like an aftermarket Ruger Old Army cylinder from the defunct company Classicballistx.

Perhaps a left over part or a second. Several safety notch cutouts do not look well placed as they are too close to the adjacent nipple wells.

Think I read that these cylinders do not use the same nipple threads as original Ruger cylinders.

I think thats exactly what it is! I looked them up, and icluded a pic from a sale ad. looks exactly like what I have here. Thanks! Still curious as to why its a touch longer, unless it's an unfinished second as you suggested. I just tried it in my blued ROA, and it wont pass into the window, it's a bit long. Perhaps stainless and blue original ruger cylinders wont exchange either.

My SS & 2 blued ROA cylinder are all interchangeable.
Maybe that was one of the aftermarket cylinders you have to send the gun back with to have fitted?

Classic Ballistix cylinders fit ROA’s perfectly. I’m sorry I didn’t buy more when I had the chance. Honestly, that looks like an effort by a talented amateur. Close, but no cigar.
