It was advertised as a Colerain with the 6 deep round bottom grooves. This was also incorrect. It has 8 very shallow grooves, and I can't find Colerain stamped anywhere on it.It looks like some of the old Douglas barrels.
I've never seen a Douglas barrel look like that from the breech. Some of them did have a little runout at the muzzle. They were regarded as very accurate. It looks like some of the old Douglas barrels.
Standby until all proceedings are closed. I will then invest everyone with the facts. That barrel will give you nothing but problems. Send it back and get your Colerain as it was advertised. I will go ahead and be the first to ask, Where did you get it from?
That is great news and thanks for posting it.I want everyone to know that the seller has offered a full refund, and has sent a return shipping label. No balk, very professional.
If you are stuck with the barrel for whatever reason, you could cut it off and have it rebreeched. I have done this myself a couple times using antique barrels. Did them without a lathe but had a large drill break on the last one which put the fear of God in me. Next time will take it to a machine shop.
