Looks like there is a crack running through the nail and on top of the screw. So maybe the nail and screw are holding it together? That's what it looks like to me but I could be way off too. That's happened a few times in my life.

so if I remove the screw from the trigger guard nothing gives??? or comes out.

removing the screw inside would be easy.

I little concerned about the nail. any ideas about how to safely remove this?

I only ask because some snowy snowed in time I might strip her. re-stain in a dirty black brown.....and finish with BLO. all the while correcting some Finish problems.

overall I'm very happy with this piece for the price.

thanks for the advice.

and for the record there is only one screw for the triggerguard on the bottom toward the rear.

if I get this figured out I should proabably post a step by step pictorial of this specific items disassembly. would have killed to have this.
