Wheelocks are very expensive, I'd never need one that bad

Part of me wants a big match lock that needs the "fork" to rest it on like a 1500s Arquebusier

That's how me and my wallet felt. You also cant have just ONE wheellock pistol. You need a brace of them and now you are already looking at least $5000

I don't cast, I just don't have time. I search out older retired guys who cast .575 Minies for about 50 cents a piece and I hot lube and size them. I barely have time to do that. Lubing and sizing 50 Minies then rolling 50 paper cartridges is pretty much an entire night for me.

I have a mix of US and CS repros and an original 1861, I just think the CS Richmond from Pedersoli looks better

People tell me not to pinch caps on cap and ball revolvers, but Dr Nemeth was pinching caps on a Uberti Walker so I think I'll trust him vs some gun show dealer Bubba selling trashed 1960s .44 Brassers

I'm at the point where I'd rather just spend extra money on powder, bullets and caps , and just shoot

So was his fellow Hungarian, Gyula Masteros. world champion open-frame BP pistol champ shooting his replica Colt Walker. He makes it look small in his hands, but then he is 6ft 7in and built like Predator.

Duelist 1954 is by far an away the most knowledgable about just about anything that burns black powder. He backs it up with actually shooting ...on video. Take it to the bank.

I bought a .451 Volunteer because of his one video, the careful and precise loading of them with all the cool old timey gear really spoke to me

Bad info is everywhere and always has been, YouTube is just a platform for anyone with a cell phone or GoPro to upload content whether it's good or not

I just saw a video with a guy saying the revolver worn on the right hip, butt forward was designed for "Cavalry Twist Draw"

Yes, soldiers may have adapted a "twist draw" but the intent was to use the revolver in the left hand , and the sword or Sabre was worn on the left hip to be drawn with the right hand. It is in writing in period military Manual of Arms documents, but that guy will argue with you about it

Yep. YouTube is fun to watch, I like it cause it’s Free! But you have to take what you watch with a grain of salt. Luckily we have the good sites already listed.

Watching that kid using Pyrodex in an original 1863 Springfield , and using dry cleaning patches and round balls with a rubber mallet pounding the ball down complaining about "how did they do this in battle?" Was almost too much for me

The one in I notice is rarely do these guys follow through the shot. They jerk their head up
before the gun even fires. I suppose one must do miserably at matches to realize this. That being said, I would have no skill with recording equipment to do a video, and my range is way too loud.
I would like to disagree on the opinion of duelist. He speaks well and is knowledgeable on history. I wish I had seen his opinion on patch thickness before I did all of my ridiculous testing...yes he jerks his head up also. That being said there is nothing wrong with filming your self to see your mistakes.

90% of these "gun experts " don't even show a video of themselves shooting the gun......they just hold it up and talk about it

Mike Bellevue focuses on actually shooting.

He doesn't edit to make himself look perfect either, he tried a light mainspring in a Uberti Navy and it wouldn't pop caps. He left that footage in to show what happens when a modification doesn't work like he planned

Well, there's actually nothing wrong with the spring he tried, it's the action parts that need attention . . . There's plenty there to cause a ftf. That's the biggest difference between individual revolvers. That spring may work in one but not the next . . . what's the difference? Lol I deal with that basically every day.

I disagree. And really, let's see your videos? Mike does great work and shows how it is. Mark has videos that get new people interested and are about fun.
