This is a .70 bore (12 gauge) Belgian trade musket. Probably dates from late 19th-early 20th centuries and likely intended for African trade. Action very tight and crisp. The bore in the 29" barrel is pretty pitted. I think it would be fine as a fowler or loaded like a Brown Bess. (I have not shot this, as the nipple is mushroomed and a larger diameter than any I have). Stock looks like Birch. Brass fitted. LOP is 12.5". $275 + Shipping.

why do people dry fire percussion weapons? at least put a piece of leather on the nipple.

Probably a kid playing with it. When I was about 12, I played with what I know was an 1851 Navy that had been in my grandmother's antique shop in Yazoo City, MS. Dry firing undoubtedly mushroomed the nipples. My great aunt then sold it to Nathan Swazye, who literally wrote the book on the 1851 Navy.

Hi BigSkyRambler
Is this still available?
Do you think the bore might polish out - looks pretty rough.
