They are different. I think the first one is Jack Garner’s outfit. The second is “the” TVM you see mentioned so frequently on the forum, headed by Matt Avance. Jack is getting well up in years now, and has been building muzzleloaders for decades. TVM, the Matt Avance outfit, has been around for quite a while, although I’m pretty sure Matt is younger than Jack.

There may have been some connection between the two in the distant past, but they are independent of each other now.

I would recommend doing some searches and research if you are thinking of ordering a custom firearm, just to make sure you will get the one you want.

Best regards,

Notchy Bob

Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading. Excellent folks to deal with, very friendly. I am completely satisfied with the rifle I ordered from them. I wanted a plain rifle, so I ordered a Natchez poor boy, which I think they have discontinued. It is beautiful gun.

Thanks for the answers! I've read "TVM" a good number of times here, and on other sites,
and I just wanted to know which organization was actually being referred to.

Avance's company is Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading. Jack's is Tennessee Valley Manufacturing in Corinth, Miss. Matt used to work for Jack.

Was there some bad blood between them from years ago when Avance worked for Gardner?
Wish Matt had given his company a different name that was more distinctive from Garner’s company. I know a lot of people have gotten confused over the years trying to figure out which company is headed by who.

i have a chambers siler on my TVM Virginia and it is jam up! the lock on my southern rifle above is a Bob Roller, it cannot be beat! but imposable to find now ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
