It got chilly here in Memphis yesterday and all I can think about is getting out with the Lyman GPR and patched round balls. I will be out in a week or two down in south Mississippi hunting wild pigs with the son-in-law . He is infested right now and there are a number of sounders with pigs in the 60 to 100 pound range that would perfect for BBQing. I haven't really broken my barrel in yet , only about 50 rounds,( my GPR is about 3 years old) but it is shooting consistently. Even though I am not that happy with the workmanship of my Lyman it is a solid shooter and I like the looks . I know they have come out with the new signature series which really looks good but the old investarms units offered a reasonably good lookin plains gun at a fair price . I think there is a lot of potential for Lyman if they improve the QC on that product . ANY WAY FALL HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!!

Had a .54 for over 20 years. Made a lot of meat and many good afternoons with that rifle. Sold it to a member here to help fund some handmade guns.

Don’t regret the decision, I have better rifles now. But sometimes I still miss her. Aim small.

I got the new Pedersoli. Flint. .50. Not a kit. $902 from Midsouth. Cheapest price I could find. Likely my last m/l purchase. Nothing about it not to love. I did adjust the double set triggers more to my liking, and I put an OxYoke sling on it. I walk with a cane (actually a hickory sapling dried for a year with the bark on.). I've had that stick for years to help me get around. Got a spinal issue they can't fix. Anyway, with the no-drill sling on it I can walk as far as I please with the heavy GPR and the stick in my hand. Maybe some of you other hunters use a stick to get around.
I sort of got off topic. Bottom line is I love this beautiful and much improved GPR. Someday I might put that target peep sight Lyman sells on the rear. For now, I can see the stock sights quite well.

Good luck in Mississippi @jambuster. Hope you kill a pile of pigs. I’m still waiting for ML season to open here in Tennessee. I’m perfectly happy with my GPR. I knew I wasn’t buying a custom gun, so I wasn’t expecting top tier workmanship at the price I paid. I’m especially happy with it after I refinished the stock. Good luck to all the other GPR users out there.
