When I hunted it was usually with my .45 longrifle. Never needed anything bigger, although I did kill deer with a number of bigger calibers JFTHOI. For general shooting I now reach for my .32 or .36. I do get around to exercising the others periodically. Lets see: a .32, .36, .45 (4), .50, .54 and a .62 smoothbore.

For 20 years it was 50 cal muzzleloaders only. A few years ago I got a 45 and, mulling over the logistics of maintaining multiple calibers, I sold it.
But that didn't last more than 6 months...not as much variety as most previous posters, I'm limited to 32, 45, 50, 62 and 20-gauge. I think I'm good across a range of use, but oddly still feel tempted to find a 54, or maybe a 40 or 36...

Exactly why the spousal unit does not have the combo to the safe and lots of stuffs gets infiltrated in&out while she's getting her hair & facial done.
:ghostly:
If the spouse only sees one at a time she will conclude that you have only one gun.

I reload .22TCM up to .54 BP. 30-06, 7.62x25, 7.62x39, 45LC, 45ACP, 32ACP, 38 SPL, 357 Mag, 44 Mag, .50 BP. I can make my own Caps but I buy my flints. I never figured out what I would use a 20mm rifle for.

I had acquired all the parts for a 69 caliber rifle and had started building when I lost it in a fire. Barrel itself weighed 8 pounds. I still have a 58 caliber rifle with a pair of 58 pistols to go along for companionship. But I was not cured of all ECS. I have two 10 ga pistols and parts for a 1 inch bore pistol..

How much longer must I struggle with this generation???

OK. You never know when the same type of fools that released COVID out of the lab are going to release some clone of manure that they dug up out of the permafrost. Plus, this genetic retro-modification is nuts, backwards evolving birds where I read that they have chickens with teeth. Yeah, waiting on them to do that with a cassowary to give us a modern version of a velociraptor. So, there you go. Voila'!! You now just don't have a use but a NEED to have a 20mm.

Personally, I'm looking at the demilled 30mm Vulcan barrels that Uncle Sam has already cut to about 43", square up, tap & add breech plug, drill vent hole, add trunnions, mount on carriage, VOILA!!! Got a 1.18" cannon.

<voice ="FoghornLegHorn"/> I say, I say, I say ole boy. Got to use some of that imagination.
