I live about 8 miles from a Cabelas.
In my experience there is no surprise what my price is going to be on non- ammunition products. Its whatever MSRP is. Cabelas don’t seem to deviate from the manufacturer’s standard price. Probably the same for ammo but since its always up and down its harder to track.

EDIT: And in answer to above inquiry Kentucky Gun Company has, via online ordering, done me right on two occasions. No issues.

Suggest you call the Manteca Bass Pro before making a 240 mile round trip. If the sales staff tells you they have the no. 11 caps ask them if they will hold them for you behind the counter. Also if they say we have the no. 11 caps ask the staff person for their name and employee badge or i.d. number.

The Bass Pro website is often wrong on in stock items; perhaps due to poor updates, theft or shrinkage.

I'm not sure where you're at in California, but Sportsman's Warehouse shows them in stock at their stores in Corona, Rancho Cordova, Elk Grove, Rocklin, Brentwood, Fairfield, Chico, Rohnert Park, and Eureka. It doesn't appear they offer shipping though.

I have not purchased anything online from them, but have purchased items in their store in Bardstown, KY (and have had email correspondence about them ordering an item for me), so I can vouch that KYGUNCO is legit and are good people to deal with. My cousin was just in the store the other day, and they had a case of CCI #11s (magnum or regular, I am not sure). I believe they were asking $9.99 per tin of 100. He did not buy any, so they still might have some. Good luck! Stay away from the online-only stores that have everything you can think of in stock, pre-pandemic prices, no hazmat fee, and don’t take anything other than Zelle or Pay-Pal. Scam! Scam! Scam!
 
what is your thread for the nipples? dixie gun works sells one that uses small pistol primers and Mag spark makes something that uses 209 primers. it might be easier to get primers from a local source.
 
I have used musket caps on my double 50. Just buy the musket nipples with a 1/4-28 thread. TOTW use to sell them.

Because doing so would subject both the buyer and seller to scrutiny by the feds. Caps, like black powder, must be sent via hazmat methods and regulations, which would also raise a bunch of red flags in regards to the forum in which the initial sale began. In other words, no FFL, no deal and to do so otherwise would probably be illegal.

Zelle is fairly safe. Usually your bank will take care of fraud.
Paypal is your better choice. Most people that sell on Paypal want you to use "Friends and family" for one reason and one reason only.

Sportsman ware house had the best price, but limited stock and limited amount you could get. Cabelas limited stock and crazy high prices, even in my small shop I can only supply limited primers an caps to regular customers.

I believe I would beg to differ on the safety of Zelle. My attached screenshots were just taken from their site. Pay particular attention to numbers 2&3. Zelle tells you themselves not to use it with people you don’t know, as there is no recourse.

I have to agree! Your best choice is Paypal. Especially for large purchases. Anything we sell from here on is "Friends & Family".
 
We were trying to find a used Japanese engine recently and you cannot imagine the scam sites out there. Many of the addresses of these businesses were empty lots, personal homes, other business addresses, unbelievable!

There are many ways to find out if a site is a scam. Here are some links.
WWW.WHOIS.COM: here you can find the owner of the site, the registrant Country, address, etc.
With the address of the company you can use GOOGLE EARTH to find the location of the seller.

SCAMADVISOR.com is another site to check.
TRUSTPILOT is another site.
WWW.BBB.ORG is another site
A call to the seller is also a good way to find a scammer. Check the area code to see if it coincides with the area of the seller.

My favorite is www.whois.com!!

No reputable business will require that type of payment. Likely they would refuse it.

Suggest you buy from someone like Graf & Sons. Use an established, reputable vendor with a physical address and a track record. They weill not require a third world payment type.

If you can not take my credit card or check I can not do business with you.
