While I can only aspire to the level of talent some of you all possess, it keeps me practicing! I love seeing your works of art! I visited our local pet shop the other day for another project piece and came home with a cheap $6 water buffalo horn since they didn’t have any suitable shaped antler available. I came up with this eagle shape with a removable beak fill plug after studying the shape for a while and looking through a lot of pictures. The horn was scraped smooth and the beak was filed in and the lines were scribed. Finished it off with 0000 steel wool to smooth out the scribe lines and a coat of wax. The pine plug was pinned, stained and finished with a coat of BLO. This horn actually holds a surprising amount of powder and was a fun project!
