Its been a few months since I acquired this Colt. At first I assumed it was sent in a shipment along with SN923 to the South. I inquired with Colt for the letter on it and they responded with no letter exist. I contacted Charles Pate and got one of his books. I corresponded with him concerning my Colt and he told me that he believes it went out in a shipment to Ohio Governor William Dennison most likely in the same shipment as SN 922 on June 14, 1861. I have inspected the revolver and found the matching serial numbers on all the parts with the exception of the barrel wedge. I also noted that the butt screw is a replacement and not original. My next step is to take it to the RIA auction house that is being built less than 5 miles from me when it opens up in 2023. With it being a revolver that went to Ohio it will not fetch as good a price as a Southern one would. But I have hopes of it auctioning off for upwards of $6,000.00.
