So I got my new toy, first flintlock, in the mail a couple of days ago. It is a Traditions Kentucky flintlock rifle. Even though it might be on the lower end of flintlock rifles I'm very excited to shoot it. That won't happen till this coming Monday. Hopefully it shoots pretty well and I won't have that many issues with it. I do have some other black powder guns, percussion, to shoot as well so should be a good day at the range. Except for the 95° weather with a few scattered showers for the humidity.

The Traditions have a type of patent breech so make sure the flash channel is clear of oil to start and fouling once you start to shoot it.

Get flint at 60 degree from frizzen in half cock and flint should be a hair off the frizzen at half cock, good flint and boom. I Have a CVA that's reliable and just bought another than looks good, may shoot it this weekend too! Range report when yer done. FOLLOW THROUGH

Got the same rifle , built from a kit, my first also. Get a vent pick and keep the patent breech clean and it will run fine. I'm using 2F in the pan and it goes off every time.
