here in Georgia! Will be at the Brushy Creek Rendezvous in Lennox Ga. Next week.

I have had this for 2 years purchased new, in excellent condition, .54 Mississippi with 7 groove 1:48 rifling By Pedersoli. Prefer face to face deal and will discount for local buy. I live in North Georgia and am willing to drive an hour to make the deal. Rifle comes with sling. $1100 or trade for shorter .40 or .45 flintlock (38 -40 inch barrel), or a French style fusil In .62 caliber. My age and back make this a bit heavy for me to shoot and I am starting to lighten up my collection. Minnie’s are dead on with 50 grains 3f goex , shoots a few inches high and right with patched .530 round ball At 50 yards.
shipping considered at additional $50.

Nice gun! I would have discussed an offer with you if you were willing to ship to Montana.

"""Why do sellers find shipping such a hassle? It ain't rocket surgery"""

Well I cant speak for anyone else but I dont like shipping longarms or longbows, fly rods ect. because I've had several bad experiences with shippers and insurance claims and denials. I packed very carefully and they were still damaged or are still in shipping limbo probably somewhere in the amazon jungle or the dark side of the moon.

I waited 6 months for a custom flint rifle once and when it finally arrived, the stock was broken. I still remember how disappointed I was. I still shipped and ordered long guns but it kept getting more and more expensive and difficult and I can no longer afford costs of a damaged shipment. Maybe it’s the system that needs to be improved, not my patience.

Sir I’m very interested in this rifle! Iv been searching the Internet high and low for one of these. Is there anyway I could convince you to ship it?

Just a thought here but maybe, even though legally you don't have to, but maybe ship gun store FFL to FFL? Might up the cost a bit but this way a shipper might also be thinking in terms of a modern gun with all the laws and such it's subject to. Might be more careful as a result. Plus a gun store is more familiar with the claims process.

Again, just a thought thrown out there to consider.

FWIW, I just went through this about three weeks ago. To ship from/to the local FFL there is a $50.00 fee for paper work.

Theft and intentional damage by shipping employees who don’t like guns is pretty common. Experienced carrier employees figure out pretty quickly what a boxed firearm looks like. The addresses and brand name on the box are often a dead giveaway.
I pack them like the shipper is going to deliver them by air-drop from 300 feet in altitude.
It IS a lot of trouble to pack guns now.
I know of several instances of a guy waiting for a year for a custom flintlock being built by a good maker, only to have the sock busted into multiple pieces and sometimes the barrel bent by the time it was delivered to his house. Sometimes the gun just “ disappears “ and nobody seems to know what happened to it.
Sure, insurance is always a good idea, but who wants to be on a waiting list for yet another year for the builder to make another gun.
Some of us old guys don’t have many years left to wait forever for a gun.
