Local gun shop has what appears to be a .50 Thompson Center Renegade with a carbine length barrel probably 24 inch barrel if I had to guess. Looks to be in fair condition, the rifling seems to be in good shape, I didn't have my bore light handy but from sticking my pinky finger in the muzzle it feels like it's got plenty of life left. We're Renegades production made with a carbine length barrel? I've never seen one before. The shop wants $525 which seems steep to me considering it's a used gun. Maybe I'll go back and drop more bore light down the barrel and take a closer look. I can tell it had been there quite some time since it was hidden way in the corner underneath a pile of other used guns.

I believe the standard length of the Renegade barrel is 26" and 1" across the flats. That's what mine is, I just checked it.

$525 for a Renegade in fair condition is steep for sure. I paid half that from a member here for a nice one.

I had a Renegade awhile back maybe it just seems short because I'm used to my Hawken rifles that have 28 & 32 inch barrels. Looked like a carbine length barrel to me but maybe I'm imagining things....it sure seemed shorter than my old Renegade I had.

26inch for all factory Renegade barrels unless it has one of the 'roundball twist' barrels from the TC Fox Ridge Outfitters custom shop. And those were 30 or 31 inches long.

And 525 is way too much unless it includes another gun or a pickup load of accessories.

If it's a Carbine length rifle that you want, look at the Traditions Deer Hunter. The one i had (passed along to a grandson). Was light, accurate and deadly. I used it while in recovery from a femur break. It would be great in a tree for those who hunt that way.

I concur on that pricing being high.

I bought a really nice .50 caliber Renegade last spring for $300 shipped. A few rust pits next to the nipple, otherwise it was really clean. $525 is WAAAAYYY too much money for the gun you're looking at!
