How to lube?

I am going to try shooting some .50 cal , Lee REAL bullets that a member here cast for me, beautiful looking bullets, but I have questions on how to lube them properly.
I plan to use a combination of beeswax and olive oil, heated up in a mini crock pot. I would assume pan lubing would work best. That would be where I pour the lube gently into a flat container holding the bullets., letting it cool , then using some type of .50 cal tube to remove from the lube.
Before I start and make a mess of myself, and my workbench, I thought I would ask the experts here for advise.
Does this sound right? Thanks

I use beeswax and no salt Crisco. The way you intend to pan lube will work fine, I have done it that way in the past. However, with the rounded edges of the Lee R.E.A.L. you can just rub the lube in with you finger by going across the lube grooves to save the trouble of pan lubing the bullets.

I'm no expert. Recently I lubed these same bullets with bees wax and peanut oil mix. The rounded grooves only held the lube if I smeared it on with finger.

I pan lubed some and not having an appropriate cutter, plucked them out (needle nose pliers) after cooling with varying results. You might try dipping them and cooling quickly on a cold plate. The smallish grooves don’t hold much lube anyway. For hunting, which I have not actually done yet, I have decided to carry Alox lubed REALs and beeswax/Crisco/Durafelt punched wads. This combo seemed to show promise at the range. In fact, I am really liking the home made wads in a number of applications.

Off topic, but the “funnest” application of the wads so far has been a 9/16” punched wad under a completely naked .562 ball stuffed down my .56 smooth bore Renegade. This combo shot really well and was easy and quick to load.
