So I just tried BnB Tobacco
We have some tobacco supply shortages where I'm at, and I was looking for a proper "flake" tobacco made with mostly Virginia tobacco, and settled on Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake. I ordered two ounces, as well as a tin of Mac Baren Navy Flake, and the stuff arrived in less than week.

Flake tobacco for those that are not familiar was a very early form of pipe tobacco style, where the leaves of the tobacco after having been cured were stacked and then pressed into a block, and "leaves" of it were then cut off and used by the pipe smoker.

A lot of us smoke pipes in this hobby, sometimes in camp, and sometimes right after making that shot on that deer (at least I do once I've reloaded and the powder horn is stowed). The price was reasonable and delivery was prompt. Oh yeah, BnB carries all sorts of tobacco from very fancy to rather ordinary, and has a lot of different brands of rough cut (most common style these days) tobacco. Cigars too.

Just thought I'd share.

When the last menthol Kool's been sold and the last sack of "Kite" disappears, I'll go back to your custom blends in my corncob or clay pipe. Thanks to our president saving lives by outlawing menthol, I'll live to be 90.

Another you may try is Escudo Navy Deluxe. It's a combination of full bodied Virginia, and Perique. It pairs with Guinness Extra Stout. Of course, as you know, Navy flake must be rubbed to smoke properly.

So not as knowledgeable about this stuff as you fine fellas, the blend I smoke now is 2/3rds cavendish and a rum flavored something another. It’s a local mix called the “crows mix”. Would that lean towards English?

RM
An English is flavored with Latikia tobaccos. First from Latikia Syria, now from mostly grown in Cypress. Early nineteenth century too much tobacco was grown in Syria and they couldn’t sell it all. They stored it in the rafters of their homes. No chimneys ,so heating and cooking smoke concentrated in the attic and smoked the tobacco. Camel dung was a major fuel source. So it was smoked from this. That have it a peppery-chocolate flavor.
Now it’s smoked in great curing barns. English are Virginia-Latikia blends, and have a very distinctive taste depending on the percentage of Latikia

Not a smoker but had to chuckle at the camel dung smoke issue curing the tobacco.

Three pack a day man for years until switching to a pipe, Captain Black, for three years. A mild heart attack in “89” prompted me to surrender all tobacco products. AFIB and a pace maker in “17” and there went the Burbon Whiskey. LOL it’s Diet Pepsi these days and the wife is on me about the dangers in that. 😩

Yeah it’s one of my favorite stories to tell. The smoke itself has a different smell then a Cavendish or a flavored tobacco. But most like it. I am reminded of the part in Tge Mountian Men. Where the Indians and Mm are smoking and one say that taste like buffalo s~~~, and the Indian says ‘it is’
My dad tried it and hated it.
Then, his order was late and he ran out of his smoke. Back in the days of snail mail.
He was without for a couple of weeks. And had asked me to borrow some of mine.
Better a flavor he didn’t like then none at all I guess.
After the third day he really liked it, and smoked it the rest of his life.

Not to mention, the pungent aroma.
I met my wife when her and a friend came to see a Muzzleloading shoot in Berryville Arkansas
Her dad died when she was eight. And as we were talking by the camp fire I pulled out a pipe for a smoke. She said wow that smelled just like what her dad smoke.
