Middlesex Village Trading - Any good?

Hi,
I am so sorry folks that you have to debate over the benefits of such manure. I hope Jim Kibler does make a Bess kit and you guys will never have to settle for such junk again.

What a laugh. They aren't total junk. And, I really don't care how they're made. Eff OSHA. The guns from India aren't junk. Many are well made. Middlesex, Loyalist, Veteran and Military Heritage all have good names...

Why don't you go ahead and buy that American made musket. Hah. You're the same kind that put down Japanese and Italian guns.

All good. Things get so hot here. If you really want the best, it will cost you a good couple of k. Dave Persons makes great stuff. He's not a fan of the new pedersoli products. I have one from 1998.

If you want the greatest, parts probably the Rifle Shoppe. Then, somone like Mike Brooks or Dave to assemble it.

I have a hunch that it would be more than I'm comfortable paying. With saving for a vacation in Aug, and other domestic obligations, going hog wild on the best isn't an option right now.

Apparently. I'm relatively new to the muzzleloading scene (I know enough to throw lead downrange) and if it doesn't involve Pedersoli, Dixie Gunworks, or Track of the Wolf, I'm gonna have plenty of questions.

I recall when the worse sin a skinner could do was buy a CVA. And Italians were called ‘garlic guns’. Now Mountian rifles and pedi are good things????

I have a couple of pistols from MVT, and have fired several of their flintlocks and matchlocks. The guns are decent for what you pay, but having seen the “customer service” they visited on a local museum who were trying to acquire a Bess for programming, I don’t know that I would deal with them again.

I have a Loyalist Arms 1847 Springfield musketoon. Got it for reenactments, (US Dragoon 1855). Pretty nice gun. Hardly a misfire. Blank misfire that is. They sent it to me with the barrel drilled. They sent the lock seperately. To skirt Canadian law I assume. It also came with a ball and fuse to "self-proof". I have never done that or live fired it. Having said that my friend has a Middlesex Village Bess and I have fired that many times just fine. The locks seem very strong on Indian guns, when you can get a good one from what I hear. I recently purchased a Loyalist Arms Trade gun from a gentleman on this forum. He had doner a great job slimming the stock and working on the metal and wood. the price was right and it shoots great!
