A friend of mine goes somewhere down in oklahoma and the rancher pays for their bullets. He's fortunate
He sure is! There was a time that land owners would let you hunt pigs for free but those days are long gone. I've watched as feral hogs literally mowed down sorghum an acre a day and he wanted us to bring more friends to help shoot them. I used to work part-time as a guide for a friends ranch here in Texas and along with exotics and whitetail there were lots of hogs. Two of them traveled together and not with the main group were pushing 500 pounds and reminded me of hairy tractors plowing up 50 rocks with ease. We charged a set amount for each hog plus lodging but nothing even close to those "100%" Russian Boar" hunting lodges with a five star chefs to cook for you.

I've still got a friend down in Texas who let's me "hunt" for free, but it isn't as sweet as it sounds. The problem is that the hogs are on an exotic game ranch. He wants them thinned out, without having any of the other animals shot. Folks shooting "free" hogs usually only want one or two, and disturb the other animals, which tends to cut into his bottom line.

This is strictly control shooting--culling--with unmentionables. Last time I spent a week down there, I got somewhere >100 hogs. And a trophy gazelle he wanted for a mount in the lodge, and a feral bull that got obnoxious (didn't want to shoot that last one, but I had instructions to take it if necessary). The trip before that I was well on my way to the same numbers when a guide called in sick, so I spent the last couple-three days of my trip guiding a dad and his kids.

He offered me a job once: come down and guide, and spend 1-2 days a week killing hogs. Fortunately, I've learned to not let the things I enjoy become "work", and passed.

I’m from South Texas and I am here to tell you there is no way to make those things tasty.

Some folks will tell you they eat them. But some folks eat oysters too. They lay where we kill them. Buzzards got to eat too, boy.
