Sometimes in the future I'm going to attempt to make a shadowbox to display either my 1851 Navy or some of Confederate notes. I really doesn't matter what is displayed it's the box itself that is of interest. I may have to ask some of you "skilled woodworkers" for pointers. Where and what forum should I post such a thread?

I’ll try to get a photo of one built for me by a family member. It contains an old lock and paperwork about remains of a flintlock rifle my grandfather found.

I wish I had a better photo to send you but here’s a rough one just to show you what was given to me. Eventually I’ll take the trigger and lock out. I’d like to get some info on its history. I also have the barrel. It’s very rusty of course since my grandfather found it in the swamp here in Florida. I assume it’s loaded as the hammer is cocked. The previous owner was probably either a Seminole or Seminole fighter.

I have purchased some walnut boxes from this place <Custom and standard wood display cases> and found them to be fair in price and quality

I made this shadowbox out of South American mahogany for an item I found on Devils Island
