Hello from UK. I thought I would show you this modern pair of blunderbusses by John dickenson 8 bore Holts auction 2019 I did not bid on anything. £15k- £20,000 I guess barrel was cnc machined and screwing into a big breach block, not my cup of tea originals by Gale £2-3k.

I wish you well. Hot and sunny here. Petrol and diesel £10 a gallon includes tax of 46%. Thieving government

Hot and sunny in Texas, too. 101 F and $4.75 a gallon. Thieves are everywhere.
I like your painting. The colors reflect the feelings of lots of us. :thumb:

And the green water looks natural. Like a moss-covered pool in a stream with lots of trees and quiet. Our pool had tadpoles, and then lots of little froggies! 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸

And the pair of blunderbusses, I was going to buy them, but was outbid. I bid $100, and was the winner, until the next bidder. Oh, well. :dunno:

Start out with one grain per caliber with 2f or 3f. Old rule of thumb
Equal volume of shot.
Work your way up from there if everything looks okay.

Why thank you. Finished my painting in oils. It’s called “ a flash in the pan” back to my flint lock Gibbs ml target rifle. Nearly finished Again a hot and sunny day. Just spent an hour and a bit replacing my sons VW belt tensioner. My arms are falling off I hate front wheel drive cars It shows us we are being stitched up with fuel prices. I worked in Lagos Nigeria back in thev1980s. It was like $3 to fill imy 230 merc up, We had riots when it went up thh harm it was $5. A big bottle of beer was $1.80.

Nice to chat At 79 the police took away my shotguns , They said I might shoot intruders. Got plenty more antique stuff but not allowed to shoot them But rather good with my Hoyt bow and better with my compound. , who needs a gun. Ha ha

Great to chat across the pond

Oh that’s me and the wife 75. Not to bad I guess. One must be thankful after 55 years of marriage , could be worse

They said I might shoot intruders.
Well, that's what they're for, right?
It's sad about your restrictions and losses. I hope we're not heading that way over here!

Fifty-five years is a long time!
Today is our 39th Agnorversary (last name Agnor)! Time flies when you're having fun.
And it looks like you're still having fun, or at least as much fun as the law allows.

At 75, your wife is still a looker! You beguiled her at the tender age of 20 or so, and the years seem to have been kind to her.
You, on the other hand, I think maybe you've seen some miles... :ghostly:

I recognize your walls of rifles from earlier posts, and I was impressed back then. Still am.
Too bad what the politicians have done over there, and are trying over here.

I can see the flintlock firing in your painting. That's really neat! But don't tell the constabulary what it's about, or it might be confiscated, too!

I hope y'all have a good Saturday evening and a better Sunday!

No she was sweet 17 a hairdresser As far as miles a gentleman should not say Ha ha. No I am a fit 35. Born in 1943 Fighting a bit of cancer with immunology , that’s no big deal Love guns , boats , hunting , fishing, sex well had to put that in , And going to France in my old Motorhome , been on safari in Africa, (actually Lagos worked there 1978, did no see any animals let alone shoot something ) been art painting all day.

The two at the bottom and one upright in window are all ml Gibbs look alike, so happens I got three stocks out of one slab of 5cm thick walnut £55 off eBay sawmill

I often put in Forarges 6th century imposing castle France

I envy your ability to drive around GB, and to France and Europe, to visit the castles and historic sites.
And especially with such a charming accomplice!
We have been to Germany twice, to visit our Air Force son. We visited a bunch of towns and castles all over the country, and went to Prague and Salzburg, too. It only made me want to travel more! Then Covid hit.
The oldest structures in Texas are the Spanish missions, which are mostly around San Antonio, built in the 1700's.
With the Texas Army, I participated in the Goliad Massacre in March (we lost), and the San Jacinto Battle reenactment (we won!) in April.
But y'alls castles and stone buildings are so much older, and that really interests me. I try to picture the inhabitants from when the buildings were built, and what their world was like back then. I mean, we all had ancestors from back then that managed to survive and have descendents, so what did our families do for a living? What did they eat, did they hunt, or did they even have any guns? So many questions...
Thanks for the photos, and I'll keep watching for more!

The one I would really like to shoot is this .36 double rifle. Paid a lot for it bid £1600 but that jumped to £2150 with buyers premium very nice unused Holts said 1886. I think more like 1920 unknown English make I have nipples and centre fire primers in brass holders

Very nice!
I always associated doubles with shotguns, not as rifles, but a double .36 would be a handy rifle to have! Especially shooting an original, regardless of the age. That's one of the things that are great about BP! You can still shoot the old guns!

The villages and castles of Europe are incredibly interesting. Americas view of history seems to start with Europeans coming over to settle. But North America has been populated many thousands of years and evidence of settlements abound.

i learnt a lot about guns at Holts auction massive spend a day playing with them.

Double for 70 birthday made it the cancer was bad then. A £5200 450-400 double Unspeakable Bonhams London

Later the .36.

Then a Reilly cape ML rifle dated 1853 for renovation 2 groove .632 for probably ball an 12 bore shot. Now mint got it for £840 at holts Made my day. Ml doubles are easy to make. Another story

Back to castles. You got all the big posh ones in England. Richard the 1. Smashed the Scottish ones yo pieces. Corff castle Swanage is interesting as it was undermined and half of it dropped a good few feet.

The Huganots and templet knights built castles in the french / Spanish hills and on top of mountains. Dotted almost everywhere we stopped at a filling station complex at 2300 ft up. Beautiful air to sleep in. Alongside was a large village with its castle.

I added this tumble down one from a motor home magazine Chateau de Leotoing At the moment the Rapido and two of us. Dover /Callaise is £199 return fuel a bit cheaper than Uk. Alas I have to have an infusion every 14 days to boost my immune system. It would be a short trip. You don’t need a licence to buy BP guns in France but you have to have a good reason to carry , You cannot take one to France in the hope of hunting ,that’s not a good reason. I need a Very elusive permit to carry. Bloody french laws changing all the time Australia Perth, guns are a nightmare worse than Uk. Been there to relatives 3 times £530 return Quatar airlines. Very nice for sailing. No game to shoot anyway. Big range at Jondelup

So here’s this castle or a chateau. Take your pick

The .36 is very new 1920 I think. Mint. Think it’s by midland gun long range rifle co. Birmingham It will take nitro powder with a nitro primer no problem It’s beautiful compared with a £1400 Pedrosoli double rifle It’s my .375 ml magnum double. Like 240g at 2150 ft sec

I do wish you all well from across the pond

Gordon. No handle. Haha ha

Most likely barrel is Broze, as others said, mine is .75cal from Loyalist Arms (India parts) and the recommend 70-80 grain 2F with .735 rb. I have been shooting with 70gr and it is a fairly straight shooter up to 30yards once you find your line of sight (no sights on the barrel so just draw an imaginary line with you eye.
As for shot I would be careful with brass BBs, better suited with Lead Shot. Mine does fairly well with 6 or 7 00ot buck shot, still working a load with #7 Bird Shot. Usually with the shot loads I have to up it 80gr.

4F; No! I will not try it in mine.

I was told the lock should be italian. Got 5# of #8 lead shot for it. Didn't get to shoot it unfortunately. Tried to get barrel off, no luck. Probably a 9 or 10 gauge I was also told. It is over .75 for sure.
