Does regularly attaching and removing a tang sight affect its accuracy?

I keep my tang sight base affixed to the stock but I don’t fit the sight staff until I need it and when I’m done I remove it again.

I keep the vernier scale locked down, so it can’t move. But I was wondering if regularly fixing and detaching it from the base will affect its vertical and horizontal levels?

Naturally it will. Removing and replacing stuff will do that…,

Theoretically, no. But, in reality there is wear on the threads and taps that can change your sight point of impact. I have a rifle with tang sights I remove and replace frequently. Usually, the poi does not change but I always make a few 'sighter' shots before going for score.

Thank you for your consideration. I don’t keep it affixed because it won’t lay flat enough to avoid getting snagged on its surroundings, and it doesn’t fit in the gun safe very well.

It seems that in my endeavour to protect the sight from damage I am being counter-productive with regard to its purpose (being a higher degree of accuracy).
