A friend of mine has recently brought a Baker Rifle into his home for evaluation. Can anyone provide some more details of the rifle?

The rifle has the 30" twist barrel. It has the bayonet mountings at the muzzle

If the tool / patch box has longer box lid and divided internal It may be pre 1805 but they normally had a stepped end to the box . Choose what its a Baker all right ,A good ' Sleeper 'Rudyard

PS the gap twix he lid & inletted hinge looks like it perhaps been fitted later they would have been a closer fit originally but that.s hardly against it , the box should have a stem with a swivel to retain Jag. ball drawer & a pin to serve as a torkque bar .Very much in demand due in part to the 'Sharpe's' Series Trust that helps .
Regards Rudyard

I would recommend the book British Military Flintlock Rifles 1740-1840 by De Witt Bailey. It has all the info on Baker rifles there is to be had.
