I have had this for many years taken a few elk and a deer with it but it just was not shooting very well only powder it really liked was Pyrodex T7. I was about to just sell it. But then I was sitting in the garage sipping on some Jack Daniel's and well....out came the hacksaw. I didn't mean to wack off that much but, what the hell it's lightweight now and it shot better with my homemade brew then it ever did. Anyways here it is a 18 1/4 in .54cal Investarms Hawken. I love it will make a nice blind and tree stand carbine.

Thanks that was the first time I ever cut a new dovetail in a barrel just took it slow and it came out nice. I am not to concerned about velocity loss as most of my hunting is 50 yards or less but it usually is steep and brushy country that I hunt.

I've always liked short barreled rifles. One of my early "wish" guns was a Musketoon. Yours is even shorter tham my Deerstalker and I call that my ML carbine. Nice job and great brush gun.

I have a low pro Skinner peep sight, I just may drill and tap the tang to increase the sight radius. But so far the stock sights work

I once owned a Traditions Buckskinner carbine with a 20 inch barrel. That was a light handy treestand gun. I only shot a few deer with it, I think the farthest shot about 35 yards.
I sold it several years ago. Your picture reminds me of it.

Cabelas offered a sporterized hawkin carbine, I ordered a .58 but didn't like the looks and sent back. Now, 20+ years later yours looks very nice. Great Job!
