Buckshot loads

Hope all is well all! I was wondering how everyone shoots buckshot out of their smoothies. What sizes of shot, what wad methods, and any “do’s” and “dont’s”. This is purely all for fun. No hunting or anything. With how these eyes shoot my 18th century minuteman better have some shot down the barrel

Unfortunately, @Britsmoothy isnt around anymore. He was always working loads up with buckshot.

If you don’t want to buy shot cards or wads just get creative with wadding. Brown grocery bag folded up, wool blanket, wasp nest, newspaper, leaves, grass or whatever. Start off with about 50-60 grains of 2F and 7/8 -1 oz of shot. Powder-wadding-shot-wadding. Boom!

What size buck would you recommend for a 24 gauge? I love my felt and paper wads.

I have used buck and ball out of my Charleville but it's been a while. Don't remember the exact load, thinking that I used 60 gr FFg, .678 ball and three OO buckshot with an over powder card and a cushion wad.

I was shooting .283 buckshot out of my 20 ga on Saturday using leather disc wads and when I ran out of those green dandelion leaves rolled into a wad. 2 layers of 3 balls for a total load of six buckshot

I played around with buckshot in a double 12ga I owned many years ago. The only thing I can tell you is that I loaded it the same way I loaded birdshot. IIRC it was .33" buck.

Is there any particular way the buckshot needs to stack or sit in the bore? Thanks!

: I'm just getting to know a new to me 20 Ga Fusil de Chasse.
re: stacking of buckshot, when I had a problem & decided to pull the load, & the patch worm wouldn't grab the wadding, I used a ball screw. When I got to the #3 buckshot, they were wedged so tightly I could only get 1-2 free at a time.
It's been a long while since I shot a smoothie, but I don't recall ever being aware of this as an issue.

Not really. Round balls are going to come to rest where they have the space to fall.
