I mounted a handgun scope on my New Englander using Bushnell Phantom mounts which use the existing holes of the rear sight. It is like a scout rifle setup, this way I didn't have to bend the hammer to clear a scope.

TC made a mount that used the rear sight holes and the tapped hole on top of the breechplug.

Member 4570 has two of them for sale in the 'Shooting Accessories For Sale/Trade' section.

i just took a picatinny rail and marked the holes to match the rear sight holes on the barrel and drilled and countersunk those. it works fine.

Exercise caution in your purchase.
Some of the TC produced mounts except only scopes made for TC.
They had a proprietary clamping system for a while on their equipment.

The screw holes attach to the factory drilled and tapped holes for the iron sights.
The sides of the mounts clamp onto a dovetail on the bottom of the scopes themselves.
If you don't have a TC scope of the right style (with the dovetail) and of the appropriate eye relief (for the tapped holes location) then the mount will do you no good without at least a couple of tubes of JB Weld.

Bushnell also offered a scope with built-in rail. In fact, I believe they made the TC scopes.
