Just a few photos of my M1817 common rifle in .54 cal. Wish my photography skills were better! The rifle was ordered from The Rifle Shoppe and was delivered after a two year wait. Workmanship is excellent, with a perfect wood-to-metal fit. All metal is browned except the lock which is color case hardened.

Wow both of those rifles look great. One fresh n white and the other plum brown. I never was looking at one of these but now im kinda thinking about it.

I guess could be used for mountain man era impression. Bought it off a deserter or took it with you after a hitch in the army.
 
Just got my Hoyt 1817 common rifle barrel a few weeks ago. Working on this kit is going to be fun.
