First rate work, and an incredible piece of wood. Knowing the source of it and the circumstances the tree came down makes the story that much better.
I'd not seen that sort of a dovetail filler before but it is very tasteful and well done. I agree that it would be a perfect place for an engraved monogram or something like that.
