Well, the whole hunt goes like this. I dropped my two boys off at there stands 17 and 14. Drove over to the field I was going to hunt.....Which is about an hour drive from my house. Knew I was going to have to stop for gas so didn't want to wear my hunting boots and risk getting gas on them. SO I slipped on my only wear inside the house shoes, and put everything in the truck to go. Two boys and all their hunting junk. So back to the hunt. I get out at my field and realized that I forgot my boots at home. It is a little cold 45 degrees and dropping. Went ahead and loaded my rifle and headed down the trail in my house shoes to the green field. I was planning on sitting on the edge so my shots would all be within 50 yards. About 300 yards from the field I notice a deer is already in the field eating grass. A few steeps closer I see several more. So I ducked into the thick woods beside the road leading to the field and quietly eased toward the field being careful not to spook the deer. I get within 100 yards from the field and ease back to the edge of the road leading to the greenfield. About 3 yards from the edge I have a pretty good view of the field so I set with my back to a pine tree and cut a small cedar tree down with my pocket saw. The cedar was about 4 feet tall so was able to cut it in half an use for a ground blind all while the deer were still in the field. After sitting about 30 minutes one of the doe presents a broadside shot about 15 yards into the field. I take careful aim propping the gun on one of my knees to help steady the shot. Squeezed the trigger and deer ran everywhere from the field. There were around a dozen doe on the field at the time. After the smoke cleared I could see the white belly shining in the greenfield. SUCCESS...I was very excited to have success on the first hunt of the year, really helps to break the ice early. I was very proud of how it turned out ALL BUT THE HOUSE SHOES! I feel I will loose all credit with the Muzzleloader Community and will remain a 32cal forever when you see my period not so correct hunting moccasins .View attachment 106128
I don't think Track of The Wolf sells these .
Great story!! We have all forgotten things like that. Once I forgot the magazine to my rifle, lol.

@Crockford was it a 15 yard shot or a 115 yard shot? I’m thinking the 115 yards in your op is a typo. Either one is an accomplishment. Just curious which it is.

Stykbow, was a 115 yard shot. 100 yards was as close as I could get without the doe busting me and running off. She was 15 yards into the field, I was 100 yards down the road. So 115 yard shot. I carry a range finder that I have from my bow hunting equipment. I knew the field edge was 100 yards, I was able to range a tree at the edge when I got set up. When I went to pick up the doe I ranged back to the tree I was sitting against, it was 115. I aimed at the top of her back and the ball hit her spine and she didn't take another step. Was not attempting a spine shot. I aimed high because I knew she was over 100 yards .
