I had a conversation with another club member last night . She questioned why anyone uses such a small caliber and squirrel hunting is all i could think of. I use shot for small game and the 32 doesn’t always knock steel down at matches.
Who is using the 32 and for what?

I use my .32 for squirrels and other small game. It’s not a flintlock but still a .32, fun and cheap to shoot.

I use a .32 and have taken squirrels (quite a few, actually) with them. A light charge is fine for small game but a .32 prb can be sent scootin' out the bore at high velocity for more serious work. I've fired .32 prb through wrist size trees and know what the tiny caliber is capable of. For turkey, coyotes and other game smaller than deer it's a natural.

As mentioned by others in this thread already, I use my .32's mostly for squirrels and target work. I have 3 percussion .32's and one flint lock. I even have a .32 pistol with 9" barrel that is fun to shoot. The .32 is the .22 of the black powder world. fun to shoot, and very economical on powder and lead.

I had a Rice .32 round ball barrel made for my flint Pedersoli Frontier, absolutely love it. Now I have the factory .45 barrel and the Rice barrel in a .32, heavy but accurate and both fir the same stock. Easy on the powder and you can use buckshot if you have to. All my life, all I've heard is, "if you want a squirrel rifle get you a .32", so I thought since I have other calibers, I'll get a .32, and love it.

A 32 with light loads are good for squirrel and rabbits. Stoke one up with 25 or 30 grains and it’ll disintegrate a ground hogs head. Those 32 round balls will zing and are devastating to small game and varmints. I have a Pedersoli flintlock Kentucky I built from a kit that’s a fun one to shoot and hunt with. I think of a 32cal RB+ 30gr 3f load as a frontiersman hornady v-max!!

I traded for an old Dixie Gun Works .32 Percussion SMR recently and it is fun to shoot! Like shooting a .22 rifle. You get a lot of shots per pound of lead. My main rifle is a .40 flintlock and it is accurate out to 100 yards. Haven't played with the .32 that far yet, but I expect it is a better 50 yd or less rifle.

I have a 32 cal Scout. I am just getting into Black Powder and use it for target shooting. I joined the Piedmont Muzzleloaders Club in SC. I am having a great time shooting and learning the correct way to handle my rifle. Great group of guys.
