Swiss and Schuetzen are still available and I see them going anywhere in the near future.
Not too long ago, I bought a pound of Pyrodex Select to try in my percussion rifles. That stuff actually shot very well and burned fairly clean. I'd use it if that's all I could get.
 
No death chant, There are more folks involved in black powder shooting now than a hundred years ago. I am confident the market will steer itself with a new source, but I intend to start making my own this winter.
 
Black powder isn't going away regardless of what chicken little says. Schuetzen makes a great powder. Past that, Schuetzen supports youth shooting sports with their products whereas I couldn't get Goex to respond to either phone or email. Since I'm very passionate about teaching and bringing others into our sport, Goex can pound sand.


And yeah, I mean what I say. In our lecture portion of the instruction, lookee at the visual aid.

Yeah, that's a roundball gun, but it ain't shooting Pyrodex, a Goex product, who incidentally doesn't support youth shooting sports. Pound sand Goex. It's Schuetzen for us.
