May want to go light on the item you purchased when talking to PP. Don't believe they are very kind to our hobby. Best wishes, would have gotten me if I had been a bit earlier checking the new posts.

Good point. Thanks for the tip!

I've heard of member's accounts getting hacked. I'm figuring the hacker who's been getting banished over and over the past year has changed his tactics. Previously he'd respond to WANTED ads. But Angie made that more difficult, so now he's figured out a bolder method - hacking member's accounts. Evidently Angie needs to install more barriers and safeguards. Ugh

To astute "paypal" users and those un-informed, clueless paypal haters, Synchrony Bank will fix it. Don't fret too much, Fraud is still fraud no matter what the transaction is.
It may not happen "Tomorrow" but your funds will be secure, just let it play out till the next billing cycle,, that's how it works with any "credit" account.

I'm curious about what you're saying. It's comforting knowing Synchrony Bank (is that the bank PP uses?) will fix it, but what about it being a gun transaction? How does one get around that stumbling block? If you report a fraud transaction such as this, on the Black Powder Forum,- the bank will happily make it right?

Dude, give me a call if you'd like. I can help you out. Check your PM's.
Fortunately this won't be an issue, but if it was, they're not firearms.

Silly man, electronic transactions are made between individuals, just like the exchange of cash, no matter of the place or venue of the monetary exchange.
When fraud is involved, Credit transactions are much easier to recover when using reputable banks then from someone who can run faster down the street with your cash in hand.
It's not a transaction on "The Black Powder Forum", nor is the item involved even considered,, it's theft, it's illegal,, and the funds from the credit transaction won't even be lost,, when it's all said and done, these guy's won't even "pay" a dime out of pocket.

You really should try the 21st century,, it kind of works

Actually PayPal offers protection ONLY if we use "their" services! That is why they charge almost 4% for their service.
But when people think they're being clever and frugal by choosing to use "Friends-and-Family" option... Well you just handed money to a friend, family member, or bum on the street with 0 (zero) protection cuz you didn't pay for it!. No different than handing money to a bum on the sidewalk in front of the liquor store, good luck getting "that" back?!
